Barrel Electroplating Parts at Summit

Barrel Electroplating Parts for fast, efficient accurate results.

Barrel Electroplating Parts is a mainstay business at Summit Plating. Barrel Plating provides an economical way to surface-coat large quantities of durable metal parts with speed, accuracy and efficiency. This includes electroplating with Gold, Silver, Palladium Nickel, and other performance-enhancing metal coatings.

With Barrel Electroplating, durable individual metal components are placed in a cylindrical barrel made of a cage-like  mesh. The barrel is then immersed in a plating tank containing strategically a plating bath solution and strategically placed electrical anodes. The barrel is then gently rotated, causing the parts within to tumbled through the solution. This motion of the parts in the plating bath ensures even distribution of the plating chemistry across all parts and all part surfaces.

Electroplating loose parts with “tight” control of surface deposits.

For loose parts with strict surface finish requirements, Summit Barrel Electroplating delivers exacting control of surface metal deposits, That’s because our vast barrel plating experience has taught us how to control plating chemistry, plating electric current, tumble agitation time, and agitation speed. Controlling these variables produces intended and consistent coverage results, even with large quantity programs requiring multiple plating batches.

Barrel Electroplating Parts with Quality Assurance at every phase.

Our Barrel Electroplating delivers results that confirmed through an integrated Quality Assurance program. Designed and managed through our dedicated R&D Lab and integrated QA Department,  program monitors, measures, validates, and documents plating quality that consistency throughout an entire industrial plating program cycle.

Barrel Electroplating Parts with Summit Plating advantages:

  • High-Volume Electroplating: Barrel plating allows us to process a large number of smaller parts simultaneously, resulting in more parts being plated with in set time frame.
  • Cost-Savings: Barrel Plating requires less equipment, less manufacturing space, and less manpower compared to more complicated methods like loose part Rack Plating. This yields a lower cost to us, which in turn we pass on to our customers.
  • Time Efficiency: The entire plating process, including cleaning, rinsing, pickling, and sealing, can often be performed within the same barrel, minimizing handling and transfer to improve overall plating-time efficiency.
  • Uniform Plating Finish: The tumbling action of the parts within the rotating barrel, combined with the bipolar contact between the pieces, eliminates stratification and produces a more uniform plating finish compared to other methods like Rack Electroplating.
